My First Blog
How I started Tailored Tours UK
This is the very first blog so here goes……I have been touring small groups of people around the UK for nearly nine years and realise afterwards that I could have done it better. How? You ask yourself. Well I realised during the tour that they always had a life interest or passion that they had to let go because other things got in the way like children, mortgage and career responsibilities.
So I now tailor make the tour to a person’s life interest so this then re-engages with their life interest or passion and a new found enthusiasm emerges. I had no business plan or strategy in the beginning but it kind of came about in my first two years of touring.
I found out that when a new found enthusiasm emerges, it brings about a new perspective and at the same time an openness to discover and feel things that were not there before. This happens on the tour in my car and sometimes people reflect on life issues that they have never had the courage to express before and thus this process becomes cathartic.
It always astounds me how frank and open people become on my tours which happens very quickly. My spirituality and faith with my Buddhist path and the integration of that brings about empathy that people see either obvious to some or very subtle to others.
There is nothing more rewarding than talking in a real sense about situations that we all incur in life as challenging and seeing those thoughts being transformed. In the UK, we can connect on many different levels to landscapes, architecture, religion, culture, food and the sheer diversity that is on offer can be used as a platform to learn and understand. In this environment I have learnt to share my own life experiences and views so that this process is always two-way and brings me so much satisfaction and gives me a purpose to life.
I thought I would share a couple of videos to illustrate the sheer diversity of my tours. I am planning some different historical & cultural tours in the next few months which have this basis as its root.
The Art Tour – Try developing your creativity by expressing yourself in drawing. This is a guided day tour by a professional artist who will give you this medium to self discover and experiment. This is for all abilities including the first time novice. The group is limited to 5 people and we shall visit some amazing places of interest. The day will include lunch at the Crazy Bear, a funky, classy and very individual eatery which itself will be used as a backdrop to a drawing.
The Burgh Island Makeover and Photographic Tour – Would you like to have a makeover from a professional BBC make-up artist and be photographed at the most romantic hotel in the UK? We have five places only for woman only which can be used as part of a modelling portfolio, a present for a generous husband, a friend’s birthday celebration, an art-deco enthusiast or an American looking to sample how the English elite savoured life in the 1930’s. See my standard Burgh Island Tour – http://www.tailoredtoursuk.com/burgh-island
I have done to date medieval cooking tour, embroidery tour, First World War planes tour, Richard 111 tour, American Second World War tour, classic car tour, English garden tour, English folly tour, Castle tour and many more. Please feel free to add you comments to my post and I would really want your requests for specific tours that would fit in with your life interest?
